Princess Aboveground Pool
Frequently Asked Questions
How easy is it to install the Princess?
Two people would easily do the job in a few hours with very little experience.
What's involved in installing the pool?
Firstly, a smooth, level base approximately half a metre wider and half a
meter longer than the pool itself is prepared. This level base can be of any non-aggressive
material but preferably sand or a 5mm crusher dust. The base should be contained within a border
(possibly sleepers) or be a part of the natural ground so that it is not affected by storms, potentially
taking away the edges and causing problems at a later date. When the pool arrives it is
accompanied by a steel bracing bar that goes into the crusher dust, extending out from the base of
the pool and forming additional bracing on each side of the pool. It is supplied ready to go and
requires no additional assembly. The maximum length of the bar is 4m and therefore any border
should take this into account. After the bracing bar is in place a crane is used to place the pool on
the base. Levels are checked and the pumping and filtration equipment put in place. This is pre-
setup for an above ground installation and is only a very small job. If our accessory ladder
incorporating a pool gate is not being used it will be necessary to put a pool fence around the
standard ladder area prior to putting water in the pool. Once all this is in place it's just a matter of
putting a hose in the pool and filling it up. These comments are general only and the installation
instructions need to be followed.
Do you supply comprehensive instructions?
Yes, almost every scenario is contained within the instructions that we supply.
What colours are available?
Lagoon Blue.
What accessories / extras are available?
Salt water chlorinator (either a semi-automatic or a fully automatic self-cleaning), pool vacuum,
Barracuda - all detailed on the order form. A standard external ladder and internal steps are
provided in the pool cost. However an accessory incorporating a latched pool gate for safety and a
larger step entry area is available.
Can the pool be put partially in-ground?
Yes, the pool is designed to be either a fully aboveground, or a fully inground installation, or
anything in between. It is in fact several times stronger than the normal inground fibreglass pool.
I live in Western Queensland, how does the pool cope with moving soils?
This pool is engineered to stand above ground as a totally free standing pool. Once the base has
been screeded as per our installation instructions, the soil can exert no pressures upon the pool.
Obviously in black soil areas, or those that require special treatment by any building, the pool
should not be installed in ground without prior reference to an engineer. This makes our above
ground option an ideal economical alternative for a Western Queensland resident to have a swimming pool.
Can the pool be moved?
To move the pool it's simply a case of emptying all of the water out of it and then using a crane to
put it on a flat truck for transport after the pump, filter and ladder have been disconnected. If it is
installed in ground, the soil around the pool will need to be released.
Is there any limit to how many times the pool can be moved?
No. Obviously a little bit of care is required to make sure that the pool isn't damaged when moving
it around with a crane but the fibreglass product is highly durable and will not tear, (such as a vinyl
liner in the traditional aboveground pool), or rust (as the traditional pools metal struts may do after
a couple of moves). The pool can be moved from rental property to rental property or rental
property to owned property and installed at that time either in ground or aboveground.
Are Council approvals required?
If the pool is being used as an aboveground pool and it is not a fixture then normal approvals do
not apply. We do however strongly recommend that you totally check the fencing regulations and
the distances where the pool is required to be from the structure with the local council so that it
does comply with their regulations. Fencing approval will often be required.
